FEC Railroad Bridge Closing

From member Pam Angel: I  would like to share with you and the membership the following.  This will impact many of the SSSF boats in February.

Unfortunately, the USCG has approved the closure of the New River from Feb 11 to Feb 23 as note below:

FLORIDA – ATLANTIC INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY –WEST PALM BEACH TO MIAMI – NEW RIVER – FEC RAILROAD BRIDGE:

Bridge Repairs/Closures.
The Coast Guard will allow the FEC Railroad Bridge across the New River, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to not open to navigation from 12:01 a.m., Saturday, February 11 through 12:01 a.m., Thursday, February 23, 2017 to facilitate repairs.

It is unfortunate, as this coincides with the Miami Boat Show. Apparently, efforts to delay this to after season and the boat show fell on deaf ears at the Coast Guard.

This means you will not be able to move your boat past the railroad bridge during this time period – so pick the side you wish to be on…
